TOYS: REFERENCE

The next step now is to work on the design of my own toy (Playmobil is just a stand-in). Apart from Playmobil, the other toys that are similar in style are (above picture, from left to right): Mini-mates, Lego figures, and Kubricks.

STYLEFRAMES

I created a couple of styleframes using a collage of different images to help define the look of the piece. These, along with the storyboards, will help me explain my vison to others, specially now that I will start looking for a DP.

SHOPPING FOR A DINOSAUR

This week I went shopping for a dinosaur, the one the boy in my film is supposed to be playing with. Between remote controlled, plush, and an expensive resin replica, I decided to go with the $8 rubber T-Rex, which I named "Harry." Harry is great; he is the right scale and has the right amount of detail, enough to fool the audience at a first look. He will, however, require some work: I'll do a new paint job to enhance certain features and, since he faces sideways (see picture), I'll have to do some work around the neck, to make sure he faces forward.
